Career Spotlight Clip is now available, flagging development opportunities related to Digital Skills and Generative AI

In the latest of ‘Deirdre’s Career Spotlight’ clips, our Careers and Employability Officer outlines exciting employer insights provided as part of the Digital Skills Festival, which will kick off on 26th February 2024. Deirdre outlines why law students need digital skill competencies, and she highlights particular sessions that may appeal to law students.

She also flags the latest LawPod episode, which has fascinating inputs from senior staff in Factor Law, a company with a major site in Belfast.  Ed Sohn and Nimal Hemelge visited our School in January past, and during this recording, they explained what GenAI is and how this application is currently being used within legal settings. They also speculate on how this tool will revolutionize work in the legal field moving forward.

The Factor Belfast Law Graduate Program has just opened for application!

Factor is a market leader in Integrated LawTM, combining the expertise of Traditional Law, the efficiency of New Law, and the close business integration of In-house legal to deliver complex legal work at scale.  Its mix of expertise, efficiency and integration positions it to provide solutions for transactional legal work that is both complex and recurring, work that often buries in-house legal teams and contracting functions.  Its clients range from global banks to major pharmaceutical companies and large technology firms.  Factor is comprised of more than 500 lawyers, legal specialists, technologists, and process consultants based across Europe and North America.

Its Graduate Program is designed to be a continuous learning journey – the perfect start to your career in law.  It commences with a 3-week period in September, during which you will engage in a comprehensive, tailored training onboarding program with your fellow graduates across each of Factor’s hubs as well as having an opportunity to get fully immersed into life at Factor.  After successfully completing your training, you will transition into their talent pool and be placed within their client engagements as a Contract Analyst. Here, you will be able to gain hands-on experience and add some leading brands to your CV.  You will be provided with ongoing support and guidance throughout your journey as a ‘Factorian’.

Factor will accept applications from any law degree discipline, but to apply, you must either be in the final year of your studies or have graduated within the last 12 months.  The program has a four-stage application process:

▪apply to the program with a copy of your CV

▪participate in a Recruiter Screening Call geared at assessing your match for the scheme

▪participate in a technical assessment

▪participate in a final online interview.
