We are delighted to celebrate the ongoing success of our graduates as they embark on their first steps in the legal profession. Cleaver Fulton Rankin, one of Northern Ireland’s leading law firms, has recently welcomed a new cohort of trainee solicitors — and four of the five appointees are proud Queen’s Law alumni.
Peter Nevin, Gemma T., Anton McEneaney and Savannah Stoops all completed their law degree or postgraduate studies at the School of Law, and now begin their two-year Trainee Solicitor Programme. This will combine professional training at Cleaver Fulton Rankin with academic study at Queen’s own Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS).
At the firm, and under the guidance of Sinead Stewart (Director of Banking & Finance) and Patrick O’Hanlon (Director of Commercial Real Estate), the trainees will gain invaluable hands-on experience across a wide range of legal practice areas.
Following DWF’s recent announcement of new early-career appointments, this success once again highlights the strength and reputation of a Queen’s Law education — one that continues to prepare graduates to meet the highest standards of the legal profession.
We extend our warmest congratulations to all four alumni as they embark on this exciting new chapter in their legal careers.

The School of Law was delighted to partner with the Law Society of Northern Ireland to mark Conveyancing Week, hosting an engaging lecture and Q&A session with practising solicitors from across the region.
Wednesday’s event provided students with valuable insights into life in private practice, the qualification pathway, and the central importance of conveyancing within the legal profession. It also showcased the wide range of rewarding career opportunities available in indigenous and high-street law firms, which remain at the heart of Northern Ireland’s legal landscape.
Our School invests significant time and effort in building strong links with employers, ensuring students benefit from direct engagement with practitioners who are eager to share their experience and encourage the next generation to consider careers in local practice. We are deeply appreciative of the solicitors who took time from their busy schedules to join us and inspire our students.
Special thanks were extended by Deirdre Timoney (School Employability Officer) to Claire McNamee (Law Society of NI), Ciaran Hampson (Hampson Harvey Solicitors, L’Derry), Cormac McGirr (McGale Kelly, Omagh), **Ellen Bates (P.A. Duffy & Co. Solicitors, Dungannon), Jonathan Scullion (Armstrong Solicitors, Glengormley), Nisha Mehan (Hampson Harvey Solicitors, L’Derry) and Stuart Harper (QUB, Institute of Professional Legal Studies) for their generous contributions to the event.

Law students are invited to attend an exclusive online information session, which will explore the ‘Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) - Route to Qualification.’
This webinar will be delivered by Christopher Howard of BARBRI, a leading provider of SQE preparation, and is tailored specifically for QUB law students.
