The Normative Foundations for EU Criminal Justice: Powers, Limits and Justifications

Untitled

This event marks the launch of Professor Jacob Öberg's book "The Normative Foundations for EU Criminal Justice: Powers, Limits and Justifications ". Should the European Union regulate criminal justice? The book explores the question forensically, establishing whether a compelling normative justification for EU action in the field exists. The book seeks to develop an integrated theoretical framework based on the perspectives of the effective allocation of regulatory authority between the EU and the Member States, representation-based political theories, and harm-based theories of criminal law.

Eversheds Sutherland (Belfast) is seeking applicants for their Summer Internship Opportunities

Untitled

Applications for the Eversheds Sutherland Summer Internship Programme are now open, an 11-week programme which gives participants real legal/business exposure. This longer internship will give interns time to show their value, become embedded in the firm, understand the culture and build networks.

Candidates complete internships in departments including Real Estate, Litigation, and Employment. The firm encourages on-the-job feedback, and each of their interns is invited to a mid-programme feedback session with their Partner.  Eversheds Sutherland understands that starting a new job (possibly your first’ real office’ job) can be a daunting experience and has put in place measures to ensure every intern feels supported and welcome. Each intern is allocated a buddy on their first day, who will help settle first-day nerves and offer support and guidance throughout the programme. Each summer intern is invited to interview for the firm’s traineeship programme.

The closing date for applications is 8 February 2024, and any queries can be emailed to:

Ellie Buckhout (HR Manager, Trainees and Interns): [email protected]
