Our School of Law extends sincere thanks to Lincoln’s Inn for inviting five of our law students to attend their prestigious University Information Afternoon and Dinner on Wednesday past. This remarkable opportunity offered students an in‑depth look at life at the Bar and the pathways available to aspiring barristers. Attendees engaged directly with practising barristers, who delivered insightful sessions on:
Following the discussions, students were welcomed to a drink’s reception and an evening meal in the historic Great Hall - an inspiring setting that underscored the longstanding traditions of the Inn.
The impact of the event was clear from student feedback.
Éibhleann Moore reflected: “It was such an insightful evening, and we all really enjoyed it – such an incredible experience.”
Uel Brown added: “We all thoroughly enjoyed the Lincoln’s Inn networking event and found it both very interesting and highly informative. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage and learn in such a stimulating setting.”
For our students, this experience plays a pivotal role in shaping their ambitions and confirming their commitment to a career at the Bar. Our School is also extremely thankful to Jack Meek, an alumnus of our School, and a practising barrister in the Government Legal Department. Jack warmly welcomed our students and supported them throughout the visit. This collaboration with Lincoln’s Inn continues to offer Queen’s law students unparalleled insight into the profession, and is an exceptional opportunity for those with genuine aspirations to join the Bar.

Ever wondered how Queen's law graduates compete in today's jobs market? The latest batch of newly qualified solicitor appointments at Carson McDowell provides a powerful answer.
Of the 11 solicitors recently admitted to the Roll of Solicitors (Northern Ireland) at the firm, nine are proud alumni of the School of Law at Queen's University Belfast. This remarkable representation speaks volumes about the strength of our academic programmes, the calibre of our students, and the continued relevance of a Queen's legal education in a highly competitive marketplace.
In announcing the milestone, Carson McDowell recognised the achievement of its 11 newly qualified solicitors, noting that their success reflects both individual dedication and the firm's sustained investment in developing legal talent. As these solicitors begin advising clients across multiple practice areas, they further strengthen the depth of expertise within one of Northern Ireland's leading law firms.
A photograph of the newly qualified solicitors accompanies this feature, and we are especially proud to recognise our alumni pictured: Dan Muldoon, Dearbhla Wilson, Emma Lewis, Gerard Scullion, Kian McGarvey, Megan Bell, Michael Dane, Rebecca Deans and Sarah Leonard. We offer each of them our warmest congratulations on reaching this important professional milestone.
For the School of Law, this is a moment of genuine pride. To see so many of our graduates reaching this significant professional milestone together is a testament not only to their hard work and ambition but also to the supportive and rigorous learning environment they experienced at Queen's.
